🔥 Come, Holy Spirit: A Catholic Reflection on Pentecost 🔥 Today, in the heart of our Catholic tradition, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost — the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, igniting the Church's mission in the world. It’s a story filled with drama: wind, fire, and the gift of tongues. But perhaps the deeper miracle wasn’t that people began to speak different languages — it was that everyone understood. What if Pentecost is not just about divine power, but divine encounter? Maybe the Spirit didn’t come to erase difference, but to bless it. Maybe the real birth of the Church wasn’t in everyone saying the same thing — but in learning to listen across difference, to build communion not through uniformity, but understanding. In our Catholic faith, we talk about the Church as one, holy, catholic and apostolic — universal, inclusive, reaching out to the margins. Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit still breathes wherever people cross boundaries for the sake of love. So today, instead of asking, “What would I have said at Pentecost?” we might ask: “Whose language, experience, or story am I being invited to hear?” “Where is the Spirit asking me to step into discomfort for the sake of deeper communion?” Pentecost isn’t just a feast. It’s a challenge. To let the Spirit stir us again — not just to speak boldly, but to listen humbly. 🕊️ Come, Holy Spirit. Renew the face of the Earth — starting with us. 🕊️
