2019 NAPLAN Best Catholic schools in Blacktown

Primary schools in the Blacktown Local Government Area are outperforming students at similar schools across the country in key NAPLAN subjects, new data shows.

A recent article in the Blacktown Advocate named St John Vianney’s Primary, Holy Cross Primary and Mary Immaculate Primary School as ranking in the Top 10 for the Blacktown area.

The 2018 NAPLAN results, uploaded to the Australia Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority’s My School website this week, showed which primary schools across the Blacktown area achieved results “above” or “substantially above” other schools with similar students.

NAPLAN tests assess primary students in years 3 and 5 and high school students in years 7 and 9 in literacy and numeracy.

The results of students with a similar Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA), were compared by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority to determine how schools fared against others with similar challenges and opportunities.

Year 3 students St John Vianney’s Primary School achieved results “significantly above” similar schools in at least one subject.

Top 10 High-Achieving Primary Schools in Blacktown
  1. Quakers Hill Public School
  2. Caddie Creek Public School
  3. Rouse Hill Anglican College
  4. John Palmer Public School
  5. Australian Islamic College of Sydney
  6. St John Vianney’s Primary School

💙💙 Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the belief that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heaven.💙💙 Often we focus on this as a moment of honour for Mary, recognising her closeness to God. But perhaps there is another perspective to consider: the Assumption is also a sign of what God desires for each of us. Mary’s life reminds us that our bodies and our lives matter — that God’s love is not only for our souls, but for the whole of who we are. In a world that can sometimes separate the spiritual from the everyday, Mary’s Assumption tells us that the ordinary parts of life — our work, relationships, struggles, and joys — are all caught up in God’s plan for wholeness and resurrection. It’s a celebration not just of Mary’s story, but of the hope that is promised to us all. 💙

Father’s Day is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to welcome our special visitors on site! 💙 This year, our Father’s Day celebrations coincide with Jersey Day, inspired by the legacy of Nathan Gremmo, a young man whose organ donation saved the lives of others. As a Catholic community, we honour this call to give the gift of life, reflecting Jesus’ teaching to love and serve others. Students may wear their sports uniform with their favourite team jersey over the top in support of the Donate Life campaign. 🏉⚽🏀

✨ The Transfiguration of the Lord ✨ Today, our students explored the powerful Gospel story of the Transfiguration—a moment where Jesus is revealed in dazzling glory alongside Moses and Elijah, and a voice from the heavens proclaims, “This is my Son, whom I love… listen to Him!” At first glance, it’s a dramatic display of divine power and mystery. But through a post-critical lens, our students and staff have begun to wonder: what if the most important part of this story isn't the shining clothes or heavenly voices… but the quiet, human response? After the light fades and the cloud disappears, Jesus gently touches His friends and says, “Do not be afraid.” In a world where children are often overwhelmed by expectations, noise, and uncertainty, this story reminds us that divine moments aren’t just about grand revelations—but about being present, comforting, and steadfast when others are afraid. 💬 What if the Transfiguration is less about changing Jesus and more about changing the disciples? 💬 What if it invites us to see the divine in each other, especially in times of fear, doubt or silence? As a community, we are being invited to listen—not just to loud voices or shining moments—but to the whisper of God in everyday life. 🕊️ "This text speaks to us of a world in which... God is revealed in both glory and gentleness."

🎄Merry Christmas to our Mary Immaculate community!🎄 Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, who came to bring hope, peace, and joy to all. May the gift of His love fill your hearts and homes this Christmas season. As we reflect on Mary's faith and courage, may her example inspire us to trust in God’s plan and share His love with those around us. Let us carry the spirit of Christmas into our lives, bringing kindness and compassion to all we meet. Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year!
