New Kindergarten students begin their schooling journey

Mary Immaculate Quakers Hill

There were lots of excited little faces last week as Mary Immaculate Primary welcomes our new Kindergarten students to our Catholic learning community.

Some were eager to get the week started, others a little apprehensive about the unknown. As the week progressed our beautiful children settled into their new world wonderfully.

We have already witnessed fabulous learning taking place in the Kinder Spaces.

The children have been participating in activities such as writing sentences, reading, playing maths games, artwork and working on their fine motor skills. Our year six students were keen to meet their Kinder Buddies, which marks the beginning of an ongoing special bond.

The Kindy students were so excited to attend library, dance, sport, music, health and art. We are so proud of the way the children have embraced school and look forward to witnessing their many wonderful achievements to come.

Our students at Mary Immaculate are joyfully preparing for the Month of the Rosary, a special time dedicated to deepening our connection with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, through prayer and reflection. Throughout October, we’ll be learning about the mysteries of the Rosary, praying together, and growing in faith as a school community. 💙 Let us continue to walk with Mary and draw closer to Christ through the power of the Rosary.

Pilgrims of Hope Concert! 🎵 ✨🎤 We’re very excited to welcome Australian religious songwriter and singer Andrew Chinn to Mary Immaculate on Friday, 21st November! Andrew is well known for his uplifting songs such as “These Hands,” “Rainbow,” “An African Blessing,” and “Rise Up!” - loved in classrooms and liturgies across Australia and around the world. The concert will be held on the school grounds at 2:00 PM, and will conclude at 3:00 PM. Parents are welcome to join us for this joyful celebration of faith and song. Please see note on Compass for important information about concert times, uniform changes, picnic afternoon tea, and early departure procedures for the day. Please note: due to limited space, parents and carers are asked to bring their own chair or picnic rug for the concert.

We are excited for tomorrow’s performance by Alyssa Delpopolo. All families will need to sign in using a QR code, which will need to be shown to staff upon entry. Please note this is not a public event; this is only for families of currently enrolled students. Only the Front gate and Paterson gate will be open from 2:15 pm and close promptly at 2:25 pm. Due to the expected crowd, there will be standing room only to accommodate as many families as possible. Students cannot be collected during the performance. If you need to pick up your child, please do so before 2:10pm (end of amended afternoon tea time). No students will be sent to the office during the performance.

✨🙏 Congratulations to our wonderful students who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation over the past few weeks! This milestone is not just a celebration of what has been, but an invitation to step into the world with courage, guided by the Holy Spirit. 💙💙 Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the belief that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heaven.💙💙 Often we focus on this as a moment of honour for Mary, recognising her closeness to God. But perhaps there is another perspective to consider: the Assumption is also a sign of what God desires for each of us. Mary’s life reminds us that our bodies and our lives matter — that God’s love is not only for our souls, but for the whole of who we are. In a world that can sometimes separate the spiritual from the everyday, Mary’s Assumption tells us that the ordinary parts of life — our work, relationships, struggles, and joys — are all caught up in God’s plan for wholeness and resurrection. It’s a celebration not just of Mary’s story, but of the hope that is promised to us all. 💙

Father’s Day is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to welcome our special visitors on site! 💙 This year, our Father’s Day celebrations coincide with Jersey Day, inspired by the legacy of Nathan Gremmo, a young man whose organ donation saved the lives of others. As a Catholic community, we honour this call to give the gift of life, reflecting Jesus’ teaching to love and serve others. Students may wear their sports uniform with their favourite team jersey over the top in support of the Donate Life campaign. 🏉⚽🏀

✨ The Transfiguration of the Lord ✨ Today, our students explored the powerful Gospel story of the Transfiguration—a moment where Jesus is revealed in dazzling glory alongside Moses and Elijah, and a voice from the heavens proclaims, “This is my Son, whom I love… listen to Him!” At first glance, it’s a dramatic display of divine power and mystery. But through a post-critical lens, our students and staff have begun to wonder: what if the most important part of this story isn't the shining clothes or heavenly voices… but the quiet, human response? After the light fades and the cloud disappears, Jesus gently touches His friends and says, “Do not be afraid.” In a world where children are often overwhelmed by expectations, noise, and uncertainty, this story reminds us that divine moments aren’t just about grand revelations—but about being present, comforting, and steadfast when others are afraid. 💬 What if the Transfiguration is less about changing Jesus and more about changing the disciples? 💬 What if it invites us to see the divine in each other, especially in times of fear, doubt or silence? As a community, we are being invited to listen—not just to loud voices or shining moments—but to the whisper of God in everyday life. 🕊️ "This text speaks to us of a world in which...
