Reconciliation Week 2020: A Commitment Statement for Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta

As a community of Catholic schools in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, we stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, our First Nation People.

We know this is Darug and Gundungurra Land - Sacred Land - Holy Land. We recognise the rich history, stories, and Dreaming of the Darug and Gundungurra people.

We accept that the disadvantage experienced by so many First Australians is the product of dispossession, powerlessness and the absence of opportunity.

We pledge to bring healing and restore trust. We will be agents of change and renewal by providing great learning experiences for young people, removing barriers of division and addressing unfairness. We will be the face of Christ to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.

We will work “for a fair and truthful relationship with the people of Australia and a better future for our children based on justice and self-determination” (Uluru State of the Heart 2019).

A big congratulations to all the Year 3-6 students who took part in the 2025 Prime Ministerโ€™s Spelling Bee! We are so proud of your enthusiasm, effort, and positive attitude. The Spelling Bee offers students a chance to learn and compete in a fun and engaging environment. Each participant tackled 30 spelling words, racing against the clock while aiming for accuracyโ€”all while competing alongside students from across Australia! What a fantastic opportunity to sharpen spelling skills and build confidence. Students will be notified by early September if they have made it to the next round. Well done to everyone involved!

๐ŸŽ„Merry Christmas to our Mary Immaculate community!๐ŸŽ„ Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, who came to bring hope, peace, and joy to all. May the gift of His love fill your hearts and homes this Christmas season. As we reflect on Mary's faith and courage, may her example inspire us to trust in Godโ€™s plan and share His love with those around us. Let us carry the spirit of Christmas into our lives, bringing kindness and compassion to all we meet. Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year! ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™ Today, we celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.ย  At Mary Immaculate, we are a Marian School, meaning โ€œMary schoolโ€. We have a special love for Mary and try to follow her good example every day. God took Mary to Heaven because she was very special. She had a strong faith, was a loving wife, and most importantly, the mother of Jesus. Mary shows us how to be proud of our faith, how to pray, and how to trust in Godโ€™s plan for us ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™
