Primary schools in the Blacktown Local Government Area are outperforming students at similar schools across the country in key NAPLAN subjects, new data shows.
A recent article in the Blacktown Advocate named St John Vianney’s Primary, Holy Cross Primary and Mary Immaculate Primary School as ranking in the Top 10 for the Blacktown area.
The 2018 NAPLAN results, uploaded to the Australia Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority’s My School website this week, showed which primary schools across the Blacktown area achieved results “above” or “substantially above” other schools with similar students.
NAPLAN tests assess primary students in years 3 and 5 and high school students in years 7 and 9 in literacy and numeracy.
The results of students with a similar Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA), were compared by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority to determine how schools fared against others with similar challenges and opportunities.
Year 3 students St John Vianney’s Primary School achieved results “significantly above” similar schools in at least one subject.

🎄Merry Christmas to our Mary Immaculate community!🎄 Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, who came to bring hope, peace, and joy to all. May the gift of His love fill your hearts and homes this Christmas season. As we reflect on Mary's faith and courage, may her example inspire us to trust in God’s plan and share His love with those around us. Let us carry the spirit of Christmas into our lives, bringing kindness and compassion to all we meet. Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year! 🩵💙 Today, we celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. At Mary Immaculate, we are a Marian School, meaning “Mary school”. We have a special love for Mary and try to follow her good example every day. God took Mary to Heaven because she was very special. She had a strong faith, was a loving wife, and most importantly, the mother of Jesus. Mary shows us how to be proud of our faith, how to pray, and how to trust in God’s plan for us 🩵💙08 Aug 2024

🌟 Today is a truly special day as we celebrate the feast of Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint! 🌟 Mary MacKillop exemplified unwavering trust in God, even in the face of challenges. She knew, just as Jesus teaches us in the Gospel, that worrying doesn’t add a single hour to our lives. Instead, she trusted in God’s love and care, a trust that we are all called to embrace. In honor of Mary MacKillop, we gathered for our Para Liturgy and took a moment to recognize students who, like her, show remarkable faith and compassion. These young leaders use the example of Jesus to make a difference and help others in their journey. Let’s continue to follow Mary MacKillop’s inspiring example and trust in God’s guidance as we strive to make a positive impact in our own communities. 🙏❤️
