Earlier this week, our school leadership team had the opportunity to take part in a professional learning day with St Luke’s Catholic College in Marsden Park.
While the journeys of St Luke’s and Mary Immaculate are different, we certainly share similarities. “There is great local knowledge” said Principal Stephen Dowd. Our staff at Mary Immaculate see themselves as being a part of creating something, and as part of that, we need to connect on a local and global scale to share ideas and methodologies.
Our leadership team enjoyed working with the staff at St Luke’s Catholic College to share our own strategies and ideas, while learning about their own unique approach to learning.
We focused our discussions sharing ideas about models of leadership and teaching and learning in our schools, as well as how while our journeys are not identical, we share many similarities when it comes to learning.

🩵💙 Today, we celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. At Mary Immaculate, we are a Marian School, meaning “Mary school”. We have a special love for Mary and try to follow her good example every day. God took Mary to Heaven because she was very special. She had a strong faith, was a loving wife, and most importantly, the mother of Jesus. Today, all our students journeyed together on a pilgrimage through Holy Week. From Palm Sunday to the joy of the Resurrection, each class paused, reflected, and engaged with the stories of Jesus’ final days. It was a sacred and meaningful experience for our school community as we walked with Christ and deepened our understanding of His love and sacrifice.
