🩵💙 Today, we celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. At Mary Immaculate, we are a Marian School, meaning “Mary school”. We have a special love for Mary and try to follow her good example every day. God took Mary to Heaven because she was very special. She had a strong faith, was a loving wife, and most importantly, the mother of Jesus. Mary shows us how to be proud of our faith, how to pray, and how to trust in God’s plan for us 🩵💙

We’re thrilled to share that the toiletry packs donated by our school community have already made a huge impact. During a recent Vinnies Van outreach, over 30 hygiene packs were distributed to those experiencing homelessness. 🗣️ “During my Vinnies Van visit on 14 July, over 30 toiletry packs were distributed to the homeless.” – Roger 🗣️ “I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the amazing (and very generous) toiletry packs donated by Mary Immaculate Primary School.” – Joanne Even more of our hygiene packs are currently in storage, ready to be distributed during future Vinnies Van visits — ensuring ongoing support for those in need. These packs, combined with the generous donations of beanies, gloves, scarves and blankets from St Joseph's Primary School Schofields, have made a significant difference, meeting a range of practical needs and offering warmth, dignity and care to some of the most vulnerable in our wider community. Today, our parish community had the great joy of welcoming Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, who co-celebrated Mass with Fr Oliver. The Gospel reading, Luke 11:1–13 (a reading our Year 4 cohort will explore in depth this term), reminded us of Jesus’ gift of the Our Father — a prayer that speaks of relationship, trust, and daily reliance on God. Bishop Vincent’s homily invited us to reflect on the power of hope and persistence in our spiritual lives. “Ask and it will be given to you; search and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” In our Catholic school community, this message speaks to both the tradition of faith and the realities of modern life. We are reminded that prayer is not always about answers, but about presence — knowing we are not alone in our questions, hopes, or challenges. As a Catholic Dialogue School, we invite everyone to consider: 💬 What do I most long for in my life or the life of my family right now? 💬 When have I experienced someone ‘knocking’ — reaching out in need — and how did I respond? 💬 What does the Our Father mean to me today, in a world that sometimes feels uncertain or rushed?
